LGR-Newhaven

Lower Granton Road is not much fun to walk or cycle along because of the relatively narrow road and pavements.

BUT there are clear desire lines and ‘easy’ opportunities.

Making a decently surfaced path here doesn’t seem to be on anyone’s ‘end of year budget for tarmac’ list –

How hard would it be to remove a few stones here? –

(and add gates to prevent unnecessary access at the entrance to the Eastern Breakwater?)

But not just any old ironmongery. How about something like the Eildon Street Leaf Gate? With waves instead of the leaf, and blue instead of green?

Choose road, pavement or nice new family friendly path?

A road so fast it needs a vehicle activated speed indicator –

A new path would connect with the existing McKelvie Parade.

This ends at Trinity Crescent where there is a problem – and opportunity. The land between LGR and the shore used to be a railway embankment. It was removed some years ago – so was the bridge. But the corner is still a one way system controlled by traffic lights. However there is no pedestrian phase – despite this being a crossing to the North Edinburgh Path Network.

The EP route continues past the Old Chain Pier. There is scope for re-allocating pavement and road space – especially if the one way system is retained.

@CyclingEdin @north_team @Edinburgh_CC @adamrmcvey @cllrcammyday CEC claim too complex for cycle path etc. But, it’s a reserved tram route!

Was Duke of Buccleugh but CEC must have bought it up for trams.

WardieBay Res been trying for years. £1.5m from FP now used on Trin Bridge.

Current road works at Trinity Bridge a nightmare & will prob be when done.

Ask @pipistrelledog for all gory details. He has details from way back.

@jazznikki @CyclingEdin @north_team @Edinburgh_CC @adamrmcvey @cllrcammyday sadly yes I do! Sadly not all council owned. Sadly neglected

they got £1m to move road, make cycle path, but did neither and forfeited money.
