It’s many years since the railway bridge and embankment were removed, but the one way system, with traffic lights, remained.

There was also no ‘safe’ way to cross from the North Edinburgh Path Network to McKelvie Parade. Within weeks it will all be different!

It’s not clear how much the Council hopes this will still come true –

4.3 The principal asset of the area is its waterfront location. The A901 (Fig 11: blue line) as it travels from Leith to Granton should be transformed into a ‘Great City Street’ that would be a pleasant place to travel, including walking, from heart to heart. In time, if this approach is developed the network of streets will develop and become enlivened enabling each place to evolve.
